ABOUT
Who We Are
Our Background
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Claudia Fuenmayor Piano Studio is composed of a professional piano instructor who is also a professional pianist.
We are purposeful and passionate about teaching piano.
We believe all students deserve the best foundation from the start of their learning journey. Proper basic technique, music theory, ear training, musicianship, artistry, improvisation, composition, and music history are part of that. We want to give the students all the tools for them to become independent learners, so they can achieve their musical goals.
We teach all levels of students ages 4 and up, beginners to advanced. We mainly focus on classical music repertoire, but in some cases, we might be open to teaching jazz and popular music.
We encourage the students to participate and attend all the lessons, recitals, master classes and performance classes. Students must practice at least six (6) days a week, according to their level. Students must follow all the instructions in order to achieve their goals. Memorization of the pieces is encouraged.

An Inside Look

CLAUDIA FUENMAYOR PIANO STUDIO SERVICES
LESSONS
Piano Lessons are twice a week for new young students until they are in middle school. The fees apply once per month. Tuition is due the first week of each month.
The lessons are individual lessons, only one student per lesson.
Piano lessons are open to students ages 4 and up.
Students do not have to have any musical background to begin piano lessons, as it is a gradual learning process. Students must have an acoustic piano in good condition, proper adjustable piano bench and pedal extender/footrest if needed. Students must purchase the books and materials needed for appropriate progress.
In the piano lessons, the students learn proper piano technique, music theory, musicianship, ear training, improvisation, composition and artistry. All of these activities help the student to play piano.
For piano lessons, students/parents can choose between 45 minute or 60 minute lessons.
Students must practice at home what they learned during the lessons to move forward in their learning progress.
LOCATION
Lessons are held in our private studio in Irving, Texas or Live Online.

FINANCIAL AGREEMENT
Monthly Tuition Fees:
45-minute lessons = $212 per month
60-minute lessons = $250 per month
Lessons vary from 4-5 lessons per month, depending on the number of weeks in each month and holidays. The monthly tuition payment is expected before the first lesson of each month. No refunds are offered for missed lessons. Since specific times are set aside for specific students, a student who does not attend a lesson will simply miss the benefit of that lesson. There are no makeups given for missed lessons unless the teacher misses a scheduled lesson. Your tuition pays for more than your weekly lesson. Please see “Monthly Tuition Covers”.
Late payments will be subject to a penalty of $30.00 and will be added to the total tuition for the month. We are scheduled to teach 40 weeks in the year. Tuition is the same for all the months, because the total number of lessons for the entire year (40) is divided into 12 months. Scheduled time off: Labor day week, Thanksgiving week, Christmas -2 weeks, Spring break, end of spring semester -2 weeks, end of summer semester -2 weeks. There are 3 flexible weeks which are weeks that we allow at the end of the semester where we do not plan to teach but CAN if we need to take time off during the semester and you will still get all your 40 lessons in the year.

LESSON ATTENDANCE AGREEMENT
1. Students are expected and encouraged to attend each lesson. In order for the student to progress, it is crucial that they have their lessons each week.
2. Scheduling will be done during the initial communication between the parent and teacher. The lesson spot selected is expected to be for the entire semester.
3. Claudia Fuenmayor Piano Studio does not offer make-up lessons unless the instructor cannot teach. Since specific times are set aside for specific students, a student who does not attend a lesson will simply miss the benefit of that lesson. Please plan to be on time for your regularly scheduled lessons.
4. Parents are encouraged to observe the lessons, record videos and take notes. This will act as a reference for how to appropriately practice at home.
5. If you wish to terminate lessons for any reason, please let us know at least one month in advance before your termination date, so we can plan the final lessons.
6. If the student is unable to attend their lesson in person but is available from home at the time of their lesson, an online lesson may be substituted. This courtesy is offered only once per semester and is based on the teacher's availability. Another option is for the student to video their pieces in advance prior to their lesson time and send them to the teacher. During their lesson time, the teacher can watch the videos and send feedback to the student in place of the scheduled lesson (asynchronous learning).
7. Online and in person lessons are not interchangeable. Once a teaching preference has been selected no changes can be made until the following semester. As mentioned previously, a once per semester exception may be made for a one time online lesson when an in person lesson was not possible for the student to attend. This is based on the teacher's availability. When the weather does not allow an in person lesson, online lessons are available.
